Community service

OPWAY Engenharia is actively involved in the Mão-na-Mão (Hand in Hand) project, organized under the corporate volunteer programme led by Portugal Telecom.
OPWAY Engenharia currently has a Volunteer Bourse, comprising a group of employees (about 10%) available to support and take part in various activities that are being publicized and implemented.
The basic principles of this project are:
- Each volunteer being available for 1 or 2 days a year;
- Activities take place in work time, with no loss of wages or implication of absenteeism;
- Every initiative will be publicized;
- Volunteers take part in actions according to their availability, willingness and interest in relation to each programme, so it will be possible to sign up for each initiative.
Protocols

OPWAY Engenharia signed a cooperation protocol with Sintra prison. The aim is to help the social reintegration of prisoners by offering work placements in the company, and to accept ex-prisoners on an equal basis with other applicants.
OPWAY Engenharia also takes part in training actions organized by Sintra prison; it sends suitably qualified staff to help develop these actions, and so helps with its technical capacity.
Another practical way of helping with training actions in Sintra prison is the donation of surplus materials from our jobs. This also helps with the refurbishment of its buildings.
